Problems of sending workers in
Indonesia abroad apparently did not escape from the unstable management of a
number of employment companies. The number of labor supply exceeds demand, the
government estimates the unemployment rate is down 7.9%. But in fact there are
still many people with working status, but doing work that is not feasible.
Problems of migrant workers have
emerged since the initial process in Indonesia. Generally the distribution of
labor migrants through labor agencies, both legal and illegal. The migrant
workers agency controls most of the initial process, from recruitment, passport
and visa application, training, transit and placement of migrant workers. Many
new migrant workers first overseas, recruited by a realtor who came to his
village with a promise of a certain wage, many job options, and offers ease of
assistance process.
Therefore, the goverment needs to curb illegal migrant
workers to avoid problems since the initial process. In addition, the need for
better coordination between the protection agency of TKI and Kemeneketrans. The
government should be more focused on disclosing solutions rather than merely
expressing problems. Because basically, Indonesia at this time needs a
commitment to a strong population policy and will indirectly address the
problems of TKI in the long term.
